With almost 20 years of performance work on stage and in the recording studio, Melissa Barber brings her entertaining talent, grace and enthusiasm to her new CD recording, You Heard it Here First. This cabaret singer, songwriter and actress has performed her show of the same name at the NYC cabaret clubs Upstairs at Rose's Turn and Don't Tell Mama. You Heard it Here First, features compositions by writers from Ms. Barber's hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. It's a fun-filled mixture of songs including one with a lyrical reference to famous Clevelander, Drew Carey, one that takes a funny yet sincere look at suburb living, music from the new musicals John Henry, Just We Two, Kiki and Gail Warnings, and the song "Fire in My Soul", written by Ms. Barber and NY composer Jack Woodbridge in honor of Zoe Koplowitz's 10th NYC marathon run. In addition to her recording career, Melissa has a variety of theatrical credits including Eva Peron (Evita), Mary of Nazareth (An Advent Carol) and Despina (Cosi Fan Tutte)and currently plays the role of Celeste Romano in the Cleveland production of "Tony n' Tina's Wedding". Hi Melissa... I was born in Berea in 1946 lived in Middlebureg Heights until 1960 and moved on to California.
